pencil and asphalt on paper, 18" x 24"
In August 2016 I was involved in a motorcycle crash that resulted in road rash on the left side of my body, and a right index finger that needed a lot of work. A broken knuckle, ripped tendon and a ligament out of place made it impossible to use my finger and create any type of artwork the same way I have my whole life.
As a kid, I used to draw realistically, and I wanted to portray that duality between my past and who I had become. My former self, drawn in realism using a completely different method, then destroyed with gravel and pieces of the road I crashed on by scraping along the paper.
