insecurities
watercolor, tea and pencil on paper. 11" x 17" each.

I wanted to paint a series of portraits based on one's insecurities. I began making semi-realistic portraits of myself, then in soft pencil, accented things about my appearance I didn't like, making sure it was a focus of the painting. After about 5 self-portraits, I began to ask others to participate and I've heard that it is very cathartic for them. One thing I've noticed with everyone, is that someone's insecurity is almost invisible to those around them. Converge show, West Loop, Chicago.
