calculus
ink and paper. 8.5" x 1"

Painting calculus is hard. I began this project out of frustration from being forced to learn calculus in the early morning hours, but I am happy with the results. These four pieces visually represent the complexity of calculus – starting with the problem, the insanity your brain goes through trying to figure it out, and a solution – both mathematically and aesthetically. I've always considered swapping the first and last images in sequence purely from a creative perspective, but the order is true to the original concept. 8.5" x 11" each, (the size of a xeroxed calculus problem).
